Strathroy’s Taylor Kehoe finished T7 at LPGA Pre-Qualifying in Florida on Friday, and has advanced to LPGA Qualifying Oct. 13-16.
The recent grad from Michigan State Spartans shot rounds of 69-73-69–211 (-5) at LPGA International – Jones Course in Daytona Beach to finish top Canadian, and within the Top-34 and ties advancing to next month’s tournament at Plantation G&CC in Venice, Fla.
Final Qualifying is slated for Nov. 19-23 at Magnolia Grove GC in Mobile, Ala.
In late June, Kehoe impressed at her Epson Tour debut, finishing T19 at the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber.
Kehoe, 22, didn’t have to go far for her charter Epson Tour event. At Harris, Michigan’s Sweetgrass Golf Club, she finished 69-68-69–206 (-10), just six strokes back from American Kaleiya Romero and China’s Liqi Zeng. Romero captured the event in a playoff.
Kehoe competed as an amateur, so she was not eligible for prize money. She finished tied for second-best Canadian with Team Canada member Tillie Claggett of Calgary. Megan Osland of Kelowna, B.C. was top Canuck at T14. London’s Maddie Szeryk-DiBello missed the cut.
Just prior to the Epson Tour event, Kehoe made her professional debut as an amateur at the June 18-21 Meijer LPGA Classic at Blytheield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan. Kehoe missed the cut at plus-5.
Kehoe graduated in May after leading the Spartans with a 72.24 scoring average in her senior season. She wrapped up her collegiate career with a T23 finish at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships. After transferring from the University of Alabama, Kehoe completed a spectacular two-year career at Michigan Sate, carrying a team-leading 72.24 scoring average this year and finishing as the Spartans’ all-time leader in scoring average with a 72.33 mark (minimum 60 rounds played). She’s a five-time AJGA winner and a past member of the Canadian national squad.
