OCAA:

There are two single clubhouse leaders after two rounds at the 2026 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships, but it is still anyone’s tournaments to win.

Mike McCullough (Vaughan) of the Humber Hawks jumped out in front in the men’s competition with a one-under 71 on Tuesday, and holds a one stroke advantage over teammates Christian Giorgi (Mississauga) and Jack Gratrix (Sunderland) as well as Cale Marontate (Harrow) of the St. Clair Saints. Gratrix equaled McCullough’s 71 in Round 2 while Giorgi and Marontate both shot an even-par 72.

Steven Hill (Lakeshore) and Jack Zylstra (St. Thomas) of the Saints tied McCullough and Gratrix for the best scores on Tuesday, and enter the final round four and six strokes, respectively, off the pace.

Monday’s clubhouse leaders Spencer Main (Welland) of the Niagara Knights and Cohen Adamson (Kemptville) of the Fanshawe Falcons and posted scores of 77 and 83, respectively to drop down the leaderboard.

Barring a major setback, the Hawks are soaring towards another OCAA men’s team title, 10 strokes ahead of the Saints.

Mya Summers

In the women’s competition, Mya Summers (Ridgetown) of the Falcons recorded a second consecutive round of 78 to take a three-stroke lead over reigning national champion Jordon Newlands (Toronto) of Humber. St. Clair’s Justine Gorham (Amherstburg), who was tied for the lead with Summers entering play on Tuesday, shot an 85 and now sits seven shots back, still in medal contention.

Humber’s Ava Bechard (Mississauga) and two-time OCAA medalist Bryden Dilley (Barrie) of the Georgian Grizzlies are eight and 10 and six strokes off the pace, respectively.

In the women’s team competition, the Hawks lead the Falcons by 13 strokes with 18 holes remaining.

A total of 44 student-athletes are competing at the OCAA championships at FireRock Golf Club in Komoka, Ont., which conclude on Wednesday. Seven post-secondary institutions are represented at the competition, including Confederation College (Thunder Bay), Durham College (Oshawa), host Fanshawe College (London), Georgian College (Barrie), Humber Polytechnic (Etobicoke), Niagara College (Welland) and St. Clair College (Windsor).

The tournament consists of three 18-hole rounds, weather permitting. The men’s and women’s player posting the lowest gross score through 54 holes will earn their respective individual championship.

Men’s teams consist of four or five golfers, with the top four individual scores of each round contributing to the total team score. Women’s teams consist of two or three golfers, with the top two individual scores of each round contributing to their total score. Schools with the lowest aggregate of gross scores after 54 holes win the respective team titles.

The Humber Hawks are both the reigning men’s and women’s team champions, with the latter having won a record six straight OCAA banners. Fanshawe last won the men’s team title in 2022, and the women’s in 2018.

FireRock is a challenging par-72 championship design framed by natural grasses and trees, captivating land forms and ragged handmade bunkers. FireRock last hosted the OCAA championships in 2018.

Daily results at the championships will be available online via the championship website and OCAA.com.

The top OCAA golfers and teams will move on to compete at the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association PING Golf National Championships. The event takes place at Club de Golf Le Blainvillier in Blainville, Que., from Oct. 13-16 and will be hosted by Cegep Andre-Laurendeau.
