Fall means high school golf in Southwestern Ontario, and local links are showcasing some of the best junior golfers in London and area.
On Monday at St. Thomas G&CC in Union, Strathroy DCI Saints won the Thames Valley Regional Athletics (TVRA) Tri-County Boys Golf Championship A Flight, with Saints Koen Vergeer leading the field with a round of 3-over-par 75. SDCI edged St. Thomas Parkside Stampeders by one shot for the team victory.
The Top 6 – including St. Joseph’s Catholic High School (St. Thomas), Woodstock Collegiate Institute, Tillsonburg Glendale and Lord Dorchester are all off to WOSSAA next Monday, Oct. 5 at Union.
Individual qualifiers Monday include Marin Popovich (Ingersoll), Hudson Felder (West Elgin), Jaxton Nancekivell (Huron Park) and Travis Laurendeau (Woodstock St. Mary’s) – they’re all off to WOSSAA.
Ambassador GC in Windsor hosts the OFSAA Boys Golf Championship Oct. 14-15.
The Central Elgin Titans took the B Flight Championship at Monday’s TVRA Tri-County tourney.
Meanwhile, the TVRA Central Boys Golf championship is slated for Thursday at FireRock GC in Komoka, where the OCAA Golf Championships wrap up today – read more here.
Yesterday, Thames Valley GC hosted the TVRA Girls Golf Championship. Andrea Lai of the St. Joseph’s Rams repeated as individual champ, and her teammate, Melissa Gillies, finished runner-up to lead their squad to the team title. Lai, 15, of St. Thomas G&CC and 2025 OFSAA champ, posted a 2-under 71.
With a round of 83, Avalina Flick (Highland CC) captured the Central Division individual championship. Flick won the 2025 Junior Tyson Tour Girls title.

London’s Saunders Sabres are back-to-back TVRA Boys Golf champions after their team win yesterday at FireRock GC. Standout Bryce Burridge is again the individual champ with a round of 4-under 68.
At WOSAA Girls Golf Thursday at Mitchell G&CC, no surprise as Andrea Lai claimed back-to-back overall individual titles. She heads to OFSAA with St. Joe’s teammate Melissa Gillies. Lai posted a 5-under 67.
In the high school division, Highland CC’s Avalina Flick continues to impress with her golf growth after recent success on the Junior Tyson Tour. The Grade 9 student at London Central posted a 78, three strokes better than Lulu Stuckless of Exeter South Huron.

Yesterday at the Union-hosted WOSSAA Boys Golf Championship, St. Thomas’s Parkside Stampeders punched their ticket to OFSAA – their first appearance in 15 years. A team score of 240 was 10 strokes better than cross-town rival St. Joe’s.
A three-way tie between Parkside’s Preston Gryp and Jacob Bosma, and Mitchell District’s Oliver Watt saw Gryp hole out from a greenside bunker on the second playoff hole for the individual victory. The trio had posted rounds of 4-over 76.
The Parkside squad is off to OFSAA, along with individual golfers Watt, and Dorchester’s Chase Grayson.
After winning the TVRA title, London Oakridge finished a disappointing fourth, 14 strokes behind Parkside. The Oaks’ star golfer, TVRA back-to-back winner Bryce Burridge, did not compete. He’s participating in the Boys U19 Ontario Super Camp Invitational at The Club at Bond Head Oct. 6-8. Burridge is T2 after the first round and just a stroke back of the leader, Coltan Cheeseman of Hamilton G&CC.
