Elite speed skaters from 25 Ontario clubs will compete at a London Speed Skating Club-hosted event Dec. 13-14 at Western Fair Sports Centre. The Speed Skating Ontario-sanctioned meet is part of the province-wide Elite circuit, and acts as a qualifier for the 2026 Ontario Winter Games.
Admission is free for spectators, and racing takes place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Families and fans are welcome to cheer our London athletes and have the rare opportunity to share in the excitement of live short track racing. The event will also be livestreamed by Speed Skating Ontario.
Racing follows a heats and finals format, with points awarded for finals and super-finals. This meet will feature mixed gender relay events, in addition to single distance racing.
London is home base to a highly-experienced speed skating club, welcoming skaters from entry level to Elite in London and surrounding area. The Forest City is home to Ontario and National champions, including former Olympic Medalist Christine Nesbitt and Ontario Provincial Champion Benton McNicol.
London will also host a Regional (Southwest) meet this season.
