Hamvention, the world’s largest gathering of amateur radio operators, will again gather radio hobbyists from around the world at Dayton, Ohio’s Greene County Fair and Expo Center from May 16-18.
This year marks the 73rd anniversary of Hamvention – click here for event history. The theme of this year’s event is, Radio Independence.
“Our theme this year highlights the freedom, resilience, and endless possibilities within amateur radio,” said Hamvention general chair Brian Markland N8UDQ.
“As our world grows more connected through POTA, SOTA, YouTube, and international communications, radio is breaking through traditional boundaries like never before. Historically, radio has been regulated – even banned in some places – but today, we have the freedom to explore, communicate, and innovate without limits. At Hamvention, we’re proud to champion this Radio Independence (and) our new logo embodies this bold spirit, celebrating the independence and ingenuity that unite our community.”
Despite the uncertainty created by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, and concurrently the weak Canadian dollar, members of the London Amateur Radio Club and local unaffiliated hams will make the annual trek to Dayton for the three-day show, which recently named its 2025 award winners – click here for that news.
