Wednesday’s winners at the London Senior Winter Games at Boler Mountain.

Vice President and Convener of the Alpine Skiing competition, Mitch Lupa, and Kim Benke, District Coordinator of the London Senior Games (LSG) District 30, are pleased to announce that five gold and silver medal winners participating Wednesday in the annual London Senior Winter Games Alpine Skiing competition at Boler Mountain qualified to represent Districts 30 and 31 at the Ontario Senior Games in Brantford in February 2021.

The competition is divided into age 55 and 65 categories for men and women.

The women’s 65 age group saw Judy Reddick win the gold for District 30 and Nancy Alway win gold for Oxford/Elgin District 31.

Rudy Kotar, a competitor in the men’s 55 age group, clocked his gold medal win at 25.18 seconds, while  the men’s 65 age winners were Jim Dwyer for gold and Bob Walker for silver.

Kim Benke and Mitch Lupa were grateful to Dave and Ken from the London Ski Club Racing organization for their supervision of the senior’s skiing competition, which was a departure from their normal activity of teaching ski racing to all ages in London. Before taking to the slopes, the seniors were offered a bit of coaching by Dave and Ken to improve their time down the course by trying the slalom course four times.

On behalf of the LSG, Kim Benke thanked Jane Hill of Desjardins Insurance for her generous sponsorship of the Alpine Skiing this year.

This was the last of the London Senior Winter Games ending on a beautiful sunny day with minimal wind, a contrast to last year when the event was rained out.

A full schedule of 20+ London Senior Summer Games begins in May with qualifying winners of those events going on to the Ontario Senior Summer Games in Peterborough, Ontario on August 11-13, 2020.
