East Park Adding Wave Pool

East Park is adding an 881-cubic-metre wave pool to its summer offerings.

With a June 2018 targeted opening, the new pool will cost the amusement park between $2 million and $3 million. It will hold up to 550 swimmers within its 70 metres of space. Hollandia Pools and Spa has been hired as contractor for the project, only the third of its kind in Ontario.

The pool is expected to draw wave-riders from as far away as Toronto and the Great Lakes states.

Former plans to open a lazy river at East Park were nixed after an East Park poll suggested the wave pool was the way to go.

East Park won the 2015 London Ontario Golf Heart Award. For more than 50 years, it has been one of London’s busiest breeding grounds for beginner golfers honing their skills from tee to green. Affordable golf plus a myriad of family activities makes the southeast London fun spot one of the city’s most active sports and leisure hotspots. And for more than half a century, East Park has given back to the community through fundraising and charitable donations.

More than 75,000 people visit East Park each year, many of whom challenge one of London’s most popular 18-hole golf courses, play its two 18-hole miniature golf layouts and practice at its driving range. Founded in 1963 by a group of prominent Londoners, East Park is operated by managing partners Neil Kapp, Alon Shatil and Ian Stone, who celebrated East Park’s 50th Anniversary in 2013. It’s a good bet that more youngsters started playing golf at East Park than at any other London golf club.
