Local Cheerleaders Capture World Silver

Two cheerleading squads with local ties both captured silver at the Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando, Fla. last week.

Team Canada Junior Co-Ed, boasting London and Sarnia athletes ages 11-16, as well as a Premier 17 and older team, coached by David-Lee Tracey, long-time Western Mustangs cheer coach, finished second in Florida.

Power Cheer Gym (est. 1998) of London was the base of the two silver medal-winning squads.

Team Thailand captured the 11-16 category, which demanded a two-and-a-half minute routine. Four Team Canada squads competed at the annual event.
