Friday at Listowel, the London Nationals took a commanding 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Sutherland Cup semifinal with a 3-2 win over the Cyclones.

Game 3 goes Sunday at Western Fair Sports Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.

Last night, George Diaco’s power play goal at 14:42 of the third period held up as the winner.

After a scoreless first period, Christian Polillo opened the scoring in the second period to make it 1-0 London. Listowel’s Trent Verbeek sent the game into the third period tied 1-1.

Wes Dobbin made it 2-1 London at 14:02 of the third before Diaco’s winner. Jonah White scored on the power play with just seven seconds remaining to make it a 3-2 game.

Polillo assisted on Diaco’s goal for a two-point game.

London netminder Zachary Springer made 24 saves for the win.
