Villalona, Miller IBL Players Of The Week

CAMBRIDGE – The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its Players of the Week for the week of June 3-June 9.

Guelph Royals infielder Angel Villalona was named Hitter of the Week. In four games, Villalona hit .611 (11-for-18), including a pair of four-hit games. The native of La Romana, Dominican Republic doubled twice and drove in five as Guelph went 2-2 during the week. Overall, Villalona is slashing .429/.500/.531/1.031 in 49 at bats.

The top pitcher for the week is Hamilton’s Clay Miller, who struck out 11 over seven innings in the Cardinals’ 5-2 win Sunday over Brantford. Miller (2-0) allowed one earned run on five hits and didn’t issue a walk as he improved to 2-0.
The 25-year-old left-hander from Colorado has an earned-run average of 0.55 with 18 strikeouts and one walk in three appearances (two starts).
