CAMBRIDGE – The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced today that Barrie infielder Kevin Atkinson and Kitchener right-handed starter Christian Hauck have been named the League’s Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from May 6-13.

Over the past eight days Kevin Atkinson led the IBL with 5 hits, a .6.25 batting average, and a .700 on-base percentage. His best outing came during a 15-1 win over the Burlington Herd where he recorded four hits, with a walk and three RBI.

31-year-old Kevin Kevin Atkinson is in his seventh season as a member of the Barrie Baycats. Atkinson, a White Rock, BC native starred at the University of New Mexico, where he was named a first-team conference all-star before playing for Team Canada at the World Baseball Challenge.

CHRISTIAN HAUCK, Kitchener Panthers | IBL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

This week Christian Hauck delivered two impressive performances starting with a 3-1 loss to the Barrie Baycats that saw Christian give up no runs and only one hit in three innings of work. In three innings Christian would strike out five and walk four.

His best performance came in a 6-0 win over the Burlington Herd where he threw a complete game shutout while striking out twelve and only walking four.

Hauck is in his first season with the Panthers after spending time with Laurier University.
