LONDONONTARIOSPORTS.COM ESTABLISHES MILESTONE AWARD
ANNUAL AWARD HONOURS LONG-TIME MEMBERS OF LONDON SPORTS COMMUNITY

October 31, 2025 (London, ONT) – Today, LondonOntarioSports.com (est. 2015), London’s Trusted Source for Sports News & Information, announces the establishment of the LondonOntarioSports.com Milestone Award, to be presented annually to a long-time member of the London and area sports community.

LondonOntarioSports.com, and partner publication LondonOntarioGolf.com, are projects from publisher and editor Jeffrey Reed, an award-winning sports writer, broadcaster and photographer since 1980. LondonOntarioSports.com is heavily involved in supporting the London and area community and has surpassed $150,000 in local charitable giving. Heart & Stroke is the publication’s charity of choice.

The newly-launched LondonOntarioSports.com Milestone Award, to be presented to the inaugural winner in April 2026, will recognize one long-time member of the local community who has dedicated their life to sports in any capacity – including athlete, coach, official, mentor, administrator, volunteer and fundraiser.

“Southwestern Ontario is a sports hotbed, and we are fortunate to have had thousands of men and women who have gone beyond the call of duty in ensuring that there are opportunities for everyone to live a better life thanks to athletics,” said Reed, a former coach and pitcher with the London Majors of the semi-professional Intercounty Baseball League.

One of Canada’s most respected freelance sports journalists for parts of five decades, Reed will select the annual LondonOntarioSports.com Milestone Award winner, to be announced in early January along with the publications’ other four annual awards, which include:

• LondonOntarioGolf.com Heart Award (est. 2011), recognizing a member of the Southwestern Ontario golf community who gives back to golf while growing the game
• Best of London Golf Award (est. 2013), recognizing one Southwestern Ontario golf club offering outstanding customer service and amenities
• Jeffrey Reed Courage Award (est. 2015), recognizing one Southern Ontario athlete who inspires with courage on and off the playing field
• LondonOntarioSports.com Community Spirit Award (est. 2025), recognizing one London and area individual or group who uses sports, recreation and leisure to better the lives of others

“With the newly-launched Milestone Award, LondonOntarioSports.com can now honour our long-time heroes who have made it possible for all of us to grow as individuals and as a community through sports,” said Reed.

Winners of all five awards will be announced beginning on January 5, 2026 and throughout the week.
