Sports fans and beer go together like peas and carrots. Now, a local brewery is twinning its craft beers with local elite athletes.

Forked River Brewery will soon collaborate with London Olympic runner Lanni Marchant to create a new brew. Marchant is a beer aficionado who drank beer as part of her nutritional regiment while training in Kenya.

The latest offering of this kind from Forked River is Golden Boy, a strong Belgian golden ale honouring London bobsledder Alex Kopacz who won gold in two-man bobsleigh at the Pyeonchang Games.

Last year, Forked River created its Logan Couture beer, a limited-run¬†edition of its Capital Blonde Ale honouring the San Jose Sharks forward. The offering assisted ¬†Couture’s brain research charity.
