London Church Combining Bowling And Prayers

It’s not uncommon for a bowler to pray for a strike. But soon, at the old Bowlerama bowling alley at 138 Thompson Road in London, visitors can get closer to God when asking for a good game.

Hillside Church in London has sold its building in Old South and has purchased the former bowling alley, which for many years housed the City Hall bowling league, one of the busiest weekly leagues in London.

The non-denominational church group actually purchased the 18,000-sq.-ft. bowling alley in 2016, and had sold its former church building in 2014.

Combined with renovation costs, they’re pumping about $2.3 million into their change-of-use project. And, the church group is saving four of the 24 lanes for five-pin bowling for public use.
