Nick Trichilo of Humber Polytechnic is the 2026 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Coach of the Year.

Trichilo, who previously won the award in 2017, has led the Humber Hawks golf program to incredible heights over his 13 seasons at the helm. The women’s team has won an unprecedented seven straight OCAA championships, while the men’s team perennially lands on the podium winning back-to-back OCAA titles in 2025 and 2026.

Individually, three Hawks won OCAA medals at the FireRock Golf Club this past week, with Mike McCullough (Vaughan) winning silver and Christian Giorgi (Mississauga) and Jack Gratrix (Sunderland) sharing bronze. Jordon Newlands (Toronto) and Ava Bechard (Mississauga) finished in the Top 5.

Trichilo is committed to helping each student-athlete reach their full potential within a competitive, supportive team culture. His holistic coaching approach focuses on well-rounded athlete development, combining individualized technical instruction, purposeful practice, effective course management and mental preparation.

At the collegiate level, Trichilo prioritizes top-tier performance at the OCAA and national championship levels while fostering accountability, teamwork, and strong academic achievement. He is equally dedicated to preparing student-athletes for success beyond college — whether in university competition, national team programs, elite amateur events or professional pathways.

Over his career, Trichilo has guided athletes from junior development to international and professional competition. His focus remains on building long-term relationships that give players the skills, confidence, and independence to succeed at every stage of their journey.

Trichilo, who is OCAA’s nominee for national golf coach of the year, now leads the Hawks into the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) PING Golf National Championships. The event takes place at Club de Golf Le Blainvillier in Blainville, Que., from Oct. 13-16.
