Make it two tournament wins in a row for the Fanshawe Falcons men’s golf squad.
After winning the season-opening St. Clair College Invitational, the Falcons captured the Georgian Golf Invitational on Thursday by two strokes over silver medalist Humber Hawks. A second squad of the powerhouse Hawks finished third.
And a second Falcons men’s team finished fifth. That squad consisted of John Orlebar, Landon Underhill, Guerin Greenfield and former Junior Tyson Tour standout Calvin Norris. Craig Hottot’s score did not count in overall scoring.
The Falcons winning team was led by Luke Evans, whose round of 2-under 70 was the best score of the day. Ben Landers and Colin Warren, both former winners on the Tyson Tour, shot rounds of 4-over 76, while Mitch Hampson shot 6-over 78.
The Falcons women’s program, meanwhile, continues to rebuild after a dismal finish at the Georgian Grizzlies-hosted tourney – a last-place finish with a combined score of +93, a full 70 strokes more than Humber’s winning squad. Yougin Seo shot a 31-over 103, while Kaitlyn Anderson finished with a 62-over 134.
St. Clair finished second in women’s competition.
Next up for the Falcons: Monday at the Niagara College Invitational. Niagara also hosts the OCAA championships Oct. 2-5.
This year’s CCAA national college championships are slated for Durham College Oct. 17-21.
