Maddie Szeryk of London, Ontario claimed the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open on Friday by one stroke at Grapevine Golf Course.
Szeryk fired rounds of 68-67–135 to finish the shortened championship at 9-under-par. The 6,300-yard course played 36-36–72.

The Northern Texas PGA is one of 41 Sections of the PGA of America. Its geographic territory includes the State of Texas north of the 31st latitude, or just north of Austin. Over 1,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals and Associates employed at more than 300 facilities comprise this Section. Northern Texas PGA headquarters are located on the PGA Frisco campus and feature state-of-the-art office space, a growth of the game pavilion and a golf park designed for junior golfers. In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the Section, the Northern Texas PGA also operates a non-profit and charitable foundation that focuses on five pillars: junior golf, college scholarships, inclusion, internships and military & veterans.
Starting the second round two strokes off the lead and in the penultimate group, Szeryk knew she needed to get off to a quick start, and that she did. With two birdies in the first four holes and a chip-in eagle on the 9th green, Szeryk made the turn at 7-under-par, but was still two strokes back of Hailee Cooper.
Coming down the final two holes Szeryk had gained a one stroke lead, but failed to get up and down on the 17th and made bogey. Needing to birdie the par-5 18th hole to regain the lead, Szyerk hit a wedge shot to 10-feet and drained the putt for birdie.
“I haven’t won in a long time, so it was great to be under the gun. A few mistakes here and there, but made a great birdie on the last hole to get myself a chance,” said Szeryk. “It’s my first big paycheck of the year.”
Szeryk, a dual citizen hailing from Allen, Texas, made 20 starts on the LPGA Tour last season and made 10 cuts. She is currently ranked 298 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. She earned $17,500 with yesterday’s win, a record for the Texas Women’s Open.
Ed. Note: Relying on qualifiers due to limited status on the LPGA Tour in 2024, Szeryk has yet to enter a field this season. On the Epson Tour, she has two missed cuts and a T40.
The Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open featured a record total purse of $150,000 thanks to the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Ewing Automotive Group. The $75,000 was designated for the 24 player Legends of the LPGA Division and the other $75,000 was for the 132 player Championship Division. The 2024 Championship was the first of three years that the Texas Women’s Open will be conducted at Grapevine Golf Course.
