Walt Cherwaty, London’s Godfather of Golf Balls who raised thousands of dollars for charity, died yesterday after a long battle with cancer. He was 81.
Cherwaty won the 2021 London Ontario Golf Heart Award for collecting, cleaning and selling used – and new – golf balls from the front porch of his Colborne Street home. For more than a half century, the retired school teacher assisted numerous local not-for-profits with his philanthropic deeds.
