After punching his ticket to the RBC Canadian Open with a qualifier win at Tarandowah Golfers Club, London’s Cam Kellett narrowly missed the cut Friday at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.
Kellett, 24, a St. Thomas Golf and Country Club member, fired rounds of 68-74–142 (+2) to miss the cut which stood at even par.
He was T20 with his 2-under round Thursday before shooting a round of +4 on Friday.
On May 18, Kellett fired a course-record 6-under 64 at Tarandowah to enter the field at Hamilton.
He finished his collegiate career in 2023 at Eastern Michigan University.
“I’ve struggled with self belief since college, but the last year I’ve really started playing how I know I can play. I’ve been more compassionate with myself, but I work hard for the results,” Kellett said.
“(I) just keep trying to get better in any way I can. The patience in last year has paid off. It’s been tough to come close and not get wins, so this is special,” Kellett said of his first appearance on the PGA Tour.
In 2022, Kellett captured the prestigious Early Bird Invitational at his home course as well as the Rob Killeen Invitational at London’s Highland Country Club. In 2018, he won the Ontario Men’s Match Play Championship. Kellett left Div. II Young Harris College in Georgia in 2019 to play for the Div. I Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno, NV before transferring to Eastern Michigan.
Competing on the American East Coast Pro Tour mini tour, Kellett wrote this bio info for the tour website:
“I graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2023 with a degree in communications. I am completing my Covid year and turning professional in May 2024. I was introduced to the game by my dad when I was 9 years old and I have been competing since I was 12. I have nine career top 10 finishes in collegiate events. I have three top five finishes in professional events and played in final qualifying for the U.S. Open (in 2023). I built my own website where I offer a mental health blog. My purpose is offering advice on what has helped me overcome dark times on and off the golf course.”

The Canadian Open continues this weekend in Ancaster. Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox sit atop the leaderboard at -10.
Hometown boy Mackenzie Hughes is the top Canadian at -7.
