Here’s your Friday morning local golf roundup as the 2025 season concludes:

OFSAA

Andrea Lai of Parkside Collegiate Institute Rams, St. Thomas tied for first and won the gold medal in a playoff at the OFSAA Girls golf championship, concluded Thursday at Brampton’s Lionhead Golf Club.

The 14-year-old Grade 9 student sat fourth after day one before finishing with rounds of 74-73—147 (+3). Adrianna Salalila of Lakefield College School shared at +3 finish before settling for silver. Both competed in the Open Division, held for junior golfers who have competed in a provincial/state/national championship over the past year.

Lai and Salalila finished two strokes better than Mona Zhao of Our Lady Queen of the World Catholic Academy in Richmond Hill.

High School division winner Alissa Lawrence St. Thomas Aquinas in Oakville posted rounds of 83-79—162 (+18), one stroke better than Olivia Lee Garth Webb Secondary School in Oakville.

At OFSAA Boys golf, hosted by Lindsay Golf & Country Club, the Saunders Sabres finished +38 and fourth as a team, 15 strokes back of gold medalists St. Michael’s College in Toronto and two strokes behind bronze medalists Crescent School of Toronto. Dawson Lew of University of Toronto Schools captured individual gold.

For the Sabres, 14-year-old Grade 9 student Bryce Burridge finished T7 with rounds of 74-75—(+5) competing in the Open Division. Burridge recently finished second at the U.S. Kids Golf PGA Golf Club Invitational in Port Lucie, Florida – read more about Burridge here.

LPGA Tour Q-School

With LPGA Tour Q-School second stage underway Friday, Londoner Maddie Szeryk sits T45 after rounds of 69-73—142 (-2), and even par after six holes this morning at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida. Read more about Szeryk here.

CCAA Championships

From CCAA:

Round 3 of the 2025 PING CCAA National Golf Championships wrapped up Thursday at Desert Blume Golf Course in Medicine Hat after a beautiful, sunny day for golf.

In Men’s standings, the St. Lawrence Lions continue to lead the field at +3, maintaining their position at the top of the leaderboard. The Humber Hawks follow at +14, while SAIT sits third at +24. The Medicine Hat Rattlers remain steady, with the St. Clair Saints, André-Laurendeau Boomerang, Durham Lords, NAIT Ooks and Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves rounding out the leaderboard.

The Men’s Individual leaderboard remains tight at the top, with Thomas Grenier (St. Lawrence Lions) turning in another terrific round, shooting 68. Wyatt Bishop (MHC) caught up to Jadan Patel (SAIT), and both are tied for second at -7 (209). William Bellavance (St. Lawrence Lions) sits fourth at -3 (213), followed by Jack Gratrix (Humber) in fifth at -2 (214).

In Women’s individual standings, Susan Chen (Humber) leads the scoreboard at +10 (226) after three consistent rounds of 76, 75 and 75. Jordan Newlands (Humber) has moved up into second at +13 (229), while Sofia DeZordo (St. Lawrence Lions) sits third at +20 (236). Alexandra Lemay (St. Lawrence) is fourth at +24 (240), and Charlotte Boudreau (André-Laurendeau) rounds out the top five at +27 (243).

Kehoe Big Ten Honours

Michigan State senior Taylor Kehoe of Strathroy, Ont. was named the Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week and Lucia Valderrama was tabbed the Big Ten Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Thursday. The Spartans are coming off a third-place finish at the St Andrews Links Collegiate in Scotland, where MSU closed the tournament with a 4-2 win over the University of St Andrews on Wednesday.

Kehoe earns her first Big Ten Golfer of the Week nod after a strong showing while in Scotland. Kehoe tied for sixth place at 1-under par 143 (71-72) and followed that up with a 3-under par 69 and a 5up win in match play in the final round.

The competition in the St Andrews Links Collegiate was the final event of the fall portion of the season for the Spartans, who will be back in action next semester as the championship portion of the schedule gets underway.

Mustangs Disappoint At OUA Championships

From OUA/Windsor Lancers:

Over a sunny yet windy weekend earlier this month in Windsor, the Toronto Varsity Blues and host Windsor Lancers captured the 2024 OUA golf championship titles at the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.

The Varsity Blues women returned to the top of the podium after a year’s hiatus with a combined for a total 471 points to take home the team gold, while the host Lancers put together a total score of 579 to capture the men’s title for the first time since 1994.

The Guelph Gryphon women’s team had an impressive weekend in the Rose City, also shooting a combined 471 to bring home the silver medal. A tiebreaker between the Blues and Gryphons was used to determine the overall gold and silver.

The Laurier Golden Hawks claimed the women’s overall bronze with a score of 481.

After shooting six over par on day one, Toronto’s Anna Foley had a tremendous second day shooting an even par to claim the Judy McCrae Cup as the women’s individual golf champion.

Guelph’s Jacqueline Giles claimed the individual silver with a score of 149, while there was a three-way tie for bronze between Brock’s Casey Kenney, Laurier’s Kiriti Godkin, and Kira Turner from Western.

Toronto’s Chris Tortorice was named the OUA women’s golf coach of the year.

On the men’s side, Windsor’s Adam Wagner was named the men’s coach of the year following the blue and gold’s team title.
The Len Shore trophy for the OUA men’s golf individual champion was awarded to Daniel Abraha of Queen’s. Abraha held the top spot on the leaderboard all weekend, shooting a four under par on day one, and an even par on day two.

Windsor’s Jarrod Smith & Alek Mauro tied for the individual silver medals with McMaster’s Kavith Ranchagoda with a two-day total of 143, finishing one shot over par.

In the team standings, the 2023 champion Laurier Golden Hawks placed second overall, while the Queen’s Gaels claimed the overall bronze medal.
