Strathroy’s Taylor Kehoe, a member of Golf Canada’s national amateur squad, has captured the girls’ division of the Dye Junior Invitational golf tournament at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.
Kehoe, 18, posted rounds of 70-73-74–217 (+1) from 6,399 yards to capture the Alice Dye division of the June 5-7 event, honouring the late Pete and Alice Dye. She topped defending champion Leigh Chien of Irvine, California by three strokes. Over the three-day tourney, Kehoe amassed 10 birdies and 33 pars and led after both rounds one and two.
She also finished T5 in the mixed four ball portion of the tournament, along with partner Trace Bracknell of Tuscalossa, Alabama. They shot a combined 69-70-68–207 (-9) in the Pete & Alice Dye portion of the event, held at Crooked Stick for a third year.
Kehoe will attend the University of Alabama this fall and will tee it up for the Crimson Tide.
The mission of the Dye Junior Invitational is to honor the legacy of champion golfers and world-renowned course designers Pete & Alice Dye. The Dyes gave birth to Crooked Stick GC in 1964 and made their home alongside its 18th fairway for many decades. To honor Pete and Alice, the club’s membership has created this annual invitational event featuring national elite junior players.
There are 33 players in both the Pete Dye Boys Division and Alice Dye Division and the event is recognized by awarding points for WAGR, Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek rankings.
Kehoe is currently ranked No. 946 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
