Sabres Win WOSSAA Team Title

Fourteen-year-old Bryce Burridge, a Grade 10 student at Saunders Secondary School, continues to add to his high school golf legacy.

Yesterday at St. Thomas Golf & Country Club, the Greenhills Country Club member carded a one-over 73 to win the WOSSAA Boys golf championship by a stroke over St. Marys DCVI’s Nathan Wolfkamp. He helped the Sabres win the team title by eight strokes over the Parkside Stampeders of St. Thomas with a total of 234.

Parkside and St. Joseph’s Rams of St. Thomas tied with scores of 242, before Parkside won a playoff to claim sole possession of the runner-up spot.

Burridge’s TVRA Central Boys championship win last year marked the first time a Grade 9 student had captured the tournament. Last week, he won back-to-back TVRA titles at FireRock Golf Club.

Andrew Sudicky of Dutton, a standout on both the Junior Tyson Tour and Lambton Junior Golf Tour (LJGT), finished in fifth spot yesterday with a round of 6-over 78. This year, he captured the Tyson Tour’s Juvenile Boys title, and finished first in the Lambton tour’s U17 Boys division. A member of Golf Ontario’s Next Wave Development Program, Sudicky also finished runner-up in the LJGT U19 Boys division. In 2024, he captured the Lambeth Boys U15 title. Sudicky was third at the TVRA tourney last week.

Colin Wright and Kaden LeClair rounded out the winning Sabres squad yesterday.

London Hunt & Country Club’s Celina Yeo, a female golfer with London’s St. Thomas Aquinas, captured bronze with a round of 4-over 76. Last week, she finished second to Burridge at the TVRA tourney by just two strokes. Yeo, 16, earned a spot earlier this year in the CKPC Women’s Open. She had a strong year on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), and has committed to study and play golf at the University of Oregon.

Oakridge Oaks’ Clark Powley finished fourth yesterday at 5-over 77 and will compete in the high school division at Lindsay-hosted OFSAA Boys golf Oct. 15-16.

WOSSAA Girls golf goes today at Thames Valley Golf Course. OFSAA Girls golf goes Oct. 15-16 in Mississauga.
